Celebrate Music Heritage with Play It Forward
On February 7, 2013, the GRAMMY Foundation® will host the 15th Annual Music Preservation Project “Play It Forward: A Celebration of Music’s Evolution and Influencers” at the historic Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills.
Just three days before The 55th GRAMMY Awards acknowledges the best in music, Play It Forward will pay tribute to those legendary songs and influencers responsible for shaping the contemporary music scene.
The GRAMMY Foundation focuses its efforts on protecting American music’s cultural legacy for future generations through its Living Histories and Grant preservation programs. In homage to musical pioneers, Play It Forward will screen excerpts of footage from its Living Histories archives and feature live, musical performances by renowned musicians.
GRAMMY® winners Yolanda Adams, Rodney Crowell, Emmylou Harris, LeAnn Rimes and Dionne Warwick are among the featured performers. They’ll share the stage with some new faces: 55th GRAMMY nominee, Ed Sheeran, whose song “The A Team” loops constantly on the top 40 airwaves, and Lianne La Havas, a soulful British singer-songwriter-guitarist who has toured with artists such as Bon Iver and sung with Willy Mason.
Additional artists include GRAMMY winning artist and current nominee Lupe Fiasco, past nominee Mike Enzinger of Incubus, platinum recording artist Guy Sebastian, violinist Ann Marie Simpson, and George Thorogood and the Destroyers. Darrell Brown, songwriter/producer and GRAMMY Foundation Board Member, serves as the evening’s musical director. Neil Portnow President/CEO of The Recording Academy (AKA GRAMMYs) and GRAMMY Foundation is among the guest presenters. Distinguished entertainment, philanthropic and industry leaders will be also be in attendance. A post event hosted reception follows the show.
The impressive list of musical talent, esteemed guests and featured footage guarantees a night of both memories and surprises.
